Cultural Experience

By jeff

This weekend during our team leaders meeting, Ricardo suggested that we invite two of his nieces and the Mexican cultural group that they perform with to come and do their thing at the team leaders meeting.  We agreed that would be something interesting and different not really knowing what to expect.  To our surprise, there were approximately 15 performers that came and did a variety of dances originating from many different states in Mexico.  The first dance was 4 women dressed in masks who had knives tied to their ankles.

Fancy Dress Dance The last dance had the men in their “less than formal” attire and they danced with machetes.  At one point, the women were dancing while balancing glasses of water on their heads.

After it was over, everyone went outside where they were allowed to take pictures with the dancers.  Several of our board members really were inspired by the performance.
